Our kids are 9 & 11.
The movie Christmas Vacation is PG-13.
It was time.
The 4 of us laid on the bed last night and clicked play at 7â:00 last night.
I was giggling 30 seconds into the movie.
My daughter kept elbowing me in the side, âWhatâs so funny, Dad?â
A Christmas classic.
An all-time classic movie.
As I was watching, I noticed Clark Griswoldâs approach to the holidays is a lot like what many Creators do in their business.
Clark dreams of the âperfectâ Christmas.
He plans the epic light display, the perfect tree, and the holiday bonuses to pay for an in-ground swimming pool.
His pursuit of perfection causes one disaster after another.
Flickering lights, a dry turkey, a wild squirrel that gets loose, and the SWAT team busting gin the house to arrest my favorite characters â Uncle Eddie.
The lesson you can learn from Clark:
We all chase perfection.
Itâs a mythical place, that doesnât exist.
We tinker with our logo, website, social media bios, Canva, and obsessed over fonts/colors.
Things that do NOT move the needle.
Your audience isnât looking for perfection. They want the solution to their problem. Nothing more, nothing less.
Quit chasing perfection.
Take a page from Clarkâs story. Light up the world (even if the lights arenât working), serve the turkey (even if itâs dry as a bone), and launch your own offer (even if itâs not perfect â it never will be)
Imperfect action is the motto âround here.
Whatâs one thing that youâve been putting off that you could launch this week?
Whatever it is, I challenge you to GET IT OUT THERE (warts and all!)
