$1,090 in 24 Hours Selling “Silly” PDFs

Yesterday, I pulled off a quick 24-hour flash sale and made $1,090 selling some of my “silly little PDFs.”

It wasn’t a perfect launch, but it reminded me of some powerful lessons about promotions, hype, and the power of email marketing. If you’re selling low-ticket digital products like PDFs, this post is for you. I’m breaking down exactly what I did, what went wrong, and five promotional strategies you can start using today to boost your sales and cash flow.

The Backstory: How Selling PDFs Changed My Life

Let me take you back a bit. On July 1st last year, I launched a simple $10 PDF guide called Threads Unleashed. It made $6,000 in its first week and honestly changed my life. I later raised the price to $17 and made $14,350 the following July. That little PDF was a game-changer, and I talk about it often because it shows how something “silly” can create real impact.

So, to celebrate its one-year anniversary, I ran a 24-hour flash sale. I bundled together Threads Unleashed 1, Threads Unleashed 2, and six other products for $24. The goal was simple: a quick cash injection and a chance to reward my audience.

What I Did — And What I Wish I Did Better

I sent out three emails on the day of the sale, posted a couple of times on Threads, shared stories on Instagram, and posted once on my YouTube feed. The sale ended at midnight, and I didn’t do much else to promote it. Looking back, I realize I dropped the ball.

Lesson #1: Build hype before your launch. I knew this anniversary was coming for weeks but didn’t talk about it until the day before. If you want to make more sales, you need to build anticipation. I’ve done launches where I hyped the product for 16 days straight, and that resulted in $5,400 in sales in 24 hours. Contrast that with this sale — 173 visits, 32 sales, and $1,090 in revenue — and you see the difference hype makes.

Breaking Down the Numbers

  • Price point: $24 for the bundle
  • Sales page visits: 173
  • Sales: 32 (18.5% conversion rate — which is actually excellent!)
  • Revenue: $1,090
  • Sales attribution: 25 sales from email, 4 from Threads, 3 unknown

The biggest surprise? Email was by far the most effective channel. About 80-85% of sales came from my email list, proving once again that if you want to make money, build your email list—and then email it consistently. Social media is great for engagement and brand awareness, but email drives cash.

Why Running Promotions Is a Smart Business Move

Promotions aren’t just about making sales — they’re about creating fun, offering discounts, and giving your customers a reason to buy again. Lifetime value (LTV) is where the real profit lives. Getting a customer to buy once is great. Getting them to buy a second, third, or fourth time? That’s how you build a sustainable business.

For me, running flash sales and bundle offers is a go-to strategy. Just two weeks ago, I ran a four-day cash campaign and made about $2,600 without much hype. These promotions are like little cash injections that keep the engine running.

5 Promotional Strategies You Can Use Today

Here are some ideas I jotted down that you can implement right now if you’re selling digital products or PDFs:

  1. Percentage Off for a Limited Time: Offer 30-50% off a product for a day or weekend only. Scarcity drives urgency.
  2. Limited Quantity Discounts: Give 50% off but only to the first 5 or 10 buyers. Once that limit is hit, pull the offer.
  3. Bundle Offers: Package a few products together at a killer price. This is my favorite — it’s fun and effective every time.
  4. Buy One Get One: Offer a free product with a purchase, valid for a short window like 24-48 hours.
  5. Bonus Offers: Throw in a free call or strategy session for buyers during the promotion. It doesn’t have to be your time—it could be anything that adds value.

One tip: I reuse promo emails from past launches. I have a Google Drive folder with 8-9 email templates, and I just tweak them for each new promo. This cuts down my prep time to under an hour.

The Power of Deadlines: Why the Last Day Matters

Here’s a fun fact: 15% of my sales on this flash sale happened in the last 27 minutes before midnight. Humans love to wait until the last minute. Instead of complaining about it, use it to your advantage. Set an ethical deadline, stick to it, and watch the urgency drive sales.

I have software that automatically closes the offer at midnight and redirects buyers to a closed page. I don’t reopen the sale for latecomers. Sure, I could squeeze out a few extra bucks, but I value trust more. When I say the sale ends at midnight, it ends. My audience respects that — it builds credibility and keeps people coming back.

Wrapping It Up: Have Fun and Keep Selling

If you’re selling low-cost digital products, don’t overlook the power of promotions. They’re fun, profitable, and a great way to connect with your audience. Plus, they help with ad profitability by increasing sales velocity and lifetime value.

If you want to dive deeper into selling PDFs and digital products, I have a video that walks you through my entire process. Check it out when you have a moment — I share everything you need to get started and start monetizing your knowledge.

If you have questions about selling PDFs, drop them in the comments or reach out. I do these videos daily (Monday through Friday), sharing wins, losses, lessons, and ideas all in one take, no edits — just real talk from my neighborhood in Las Vegas.

Remember: Promotions work. Build hype, email your list, set deadlines, and have fun with it. You’re one flash sale away from a nice cash injection into your business.
