I ran a Birthday promo this weekend. I whipped it up last minute while in Montana. The goal: Pay for the Montana vacation (roughly $1,500, as we didn’t have to pay for lodging) HERE ARE THE NUMBERS:
LESSONS LEARNED:I’m really proud of the repeat customer stat. Studies show that it’s 5-12x EASIER to sell to a current customer over a new prospect. If you’re not selling more to your customers, START DOING THAT YESTERDAY! I ran this Bundle on Stan store, as a test. I’ve never done this before. It was easy to set up, but gave up some functionality that I’m used to when running these promo offers on WordPress. Stan store conversion rate: 6.7%. On WordPress, my bundle offers typically convert at 8-10%. I was unable to have a countdown timer at the top of the sales page on Stan store (countdown timers boost sales) On WordPress, I can set up an auto redirect when the timer hits zero. I send all traffic to an “Offer Closed” page at midnight. With Stan store, I had to stay up until midnight to manually take the page offline. Kind of a pain, as I was tired and wanted to go to bed at 10:30, but I’m very strict with my deadlines. I was unable to have order bumps or upsells on Stan store, and this probably cost me $300 – $500 in lost revenue. MISTAKES MADE:I planned all week to run the bundle offer, yet, I didn’t mention it at all beforehand. I know from past experience, when I make an announcement beforehand, it significantly boosts sales. Even just 1 email beforehand can lift sales. I dropped the ball there. I sent an email every day on vacation, and I could have dropped the announcement in the PS section of the emails. I could have mentioned it on IG or Threads, and didn’t. I didn’t promote the Bundle in our Skool community, YouTube or Facebook. I did a pretty shitty job promoting it. I sent 1 email on Saturday and 4 emails yesterday. I posted about it 3-4x on Threads, and a dozen times on IG Stories. I came up short of my $1,500 goal, but all in all, I’m happy with the results. Saturday was our last day in Montana, and we were busy all day sightseeing. I did little work on vacation, and even less this weekend. I put together the sales page late Friday night/early Saturday morning. I built out the page on WordPress Friday night. I went to “turn it on” Saturday morning, and had internet issues at the cabin, so I ran up to the local bar (where I had wi-fi access) and decided to recreate the sales page on Stan (took about 20 minutes). Stan store was so much easier to use, but probably cost me $500 – $1,000 in lost revenue with a lower conversion rate, and the inability to have bumps/upsells. Repeat customers made nearly half my sales. Pre-promo could’ve easily pushed me past my $1,500 goal. The lesson? Take care of your current customers… and warm up your audience before you sell. Do those two things, and you might just fund your next vacation, too. YOU GOT THIS 🙌 In your corner, When you’re ready, here are a couple of ways I can help you…
