69 seconds in my own city

Conor McGregor waited 5 years for last night.

His leg snapped in half in July 2021, and hasn’t fought since. A civil case, and hundreds of headlines claiming “he’s done”. He walked down the aisle at T-Mobile arena (about 20 minutes from Chateau de Dukes).

He threw an awkward flying leg kick to start the fight and fell down.

He tried the same kick seconds later, and fell down again.

The fight lasted 69 seconds.

The ref waived his hands when Connor’s leg buckled while walking toward his opponent.

5 years of preparation. Gone in 69 seconds.

I see people online all the time waiting, wishing, wanting for the right time. Or the perfect time. When their kids get a little older. They have more time. When they learn more. When they have a little more certainty in themselves.

McGregor has 5 years. best training camp of his life. And the outcome appears to have come from one small, misstep that’s impossible to plan for.

You can’t control the outcome (let go of that idea). You can control whether you take the shot.

That’s the game. Not certainty or the perfect setup/time. Just weather you’re willing to put yourself out there day after day, not knowing what’s gonna happen.

I drove Uber at 2 am in the same city before I figured that out. Didn’t have a perfect plan or strategy, or any idea what the outcome would be. I just showed up day after day answering people’s questions, being of service. I was Just tired of waiting to feel ready enough to start.
