Why You Should Do LESS to Earn MORE

Ever feel like you’re spinning your wheels trying to be everywhere and do everything ?

Only to end up exhausted and not making the sales you want?

That was exactly the situation a creator I recently spoke with found herself in. She’s juggling multiple social platforms, coaching programs, ebooks, motherhood, and a job — all while trying to grow her business in the women’s hormones and PCOS niche. Burnout was knocking on her door, and the results? Not quite there yet.

In this post, I’m going to share the straightforward advice I gave her that can help you, too: Do less, but do it better. It’s my motto for 2025, and it’s about focusing your energy on one platform and one core offer instead of chasing every shiny thing out there.

The Problem With Doing It All

Here’s what I hear all the time from creators and entrepreneurs:

  • “I’m on all the platforms — Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, you name it.”
  • “I’m trying to post a little bit everywhere but I’m burnt out and still not making sales.”
  • “I have an ebook, a coaching program, and a bunch of other offers, but nothing’s really taking off.”

Sound familiar? This creator was right there. She was stretched thin, overwhelmed, and borderline burnout. The reality is, when you’re trying to be everywhere, you end up being nowhere — or at least, nowhere deeply effective.

Why “Less is More” Isn’t Just a Cliché

I told her — and I’ll tell you — to pick one platform and really master it. Forget the pressure to be everywhere all at once. You don’t have to be everywhere, you just have to be useful somewhere.

For her, we landed on Threads as the one platform to focus on first. Here’s the approach I shared:

  1. Answer 5 questions a day on Threads. Thoughtful, helpful, and detailed answers. If time allows, do more — 8, 10, or even 15. Spread these throughout your day.
  2. Turn engaging comments into posts. If a comment you make gets a few likes, turn it into a post on your Threads feed to showcase your expertise.
  3. Create 2-3 long-form posts a week. Think mini blog posts made up of a series of Threads. Share your story, be vulnerable, and highlight your expertise in women’s hormones, PCOS, weight loss, and the lessons you’ve learned.

This method isn’t about chasing viral content but building trust and attracting the right audience who will stick around, follow, and eventually buy.

Balancing Short-Form and Long-Form Content

Threads is perfect for short-form, social media engagement. But what about long-form content? I recommended she consider YouTube or a blog for that. The long-form content is where you go deep, tell your story, and create searchable content that lasts for years.

Here’s the difference:

  • Short-form content (Threads, Instagram, TikTok): Quick engagement, fast feedback, but content lifespan is short — usually 48 hours or less.
  • Long-form content (YouTube, blog, podcast): Evergreen, searchable content that can bring in traffic and sales months or even years later.

Start with one short-form platform to build audience fast and one long-form platform to build lasting authority. For YouTube, she could start with one video every other week or once a month to keep it manageable.

Focus on Your Core Offer — Coaching Over PDFs

She had an ebook priced at $17 and a coaching program. I advised her to focus on the coaching program if she needs to make money faster. Why? Because selling done-for-you services or coaching programs is the fastest path to cash as a creator.

Many creators get stuck trying to sell low-ticket PDFs or courses that don’t convert without a strong audience or messaging. Coaching programs allow you to deliver more value and charge higher prices.

Practice Your Messaging and Build Relationships

Messaging takes practice. It’s not something you nail overnight. You have to put out lots of content — even the “shitty” stuff — and have conversations with your audience through DMs, calls, and emails to really understand their needs.

That’s how you sharpen your message and start to make sales. It’s a grind, but it’s the foundation of long-term success.

The Reality Check on Multi-Platform Hustles

There’s a lot of hype about being on every platform all the time — a la Gary Vaynerchuk’s “be everywhere” approach. But that’s for people who already have a big audience and resources. For most creators starting out, it’s just a recipe for burnout.

“You don’t have to be everywhere. You just have to be useful somewhere.”

Focus your time, money, and energy on one platform to build momentum. Branch out only after you’ve built a solid foundation.

Final Thoughts

If you’re struggling to make sales, juggling too many platforms, or feeling burnt out, try this:

  • Pick one social media platform and commit to it.
  • Answer questions and engage daily with thoughtfulness and authenticity.
  • Create 2-3 long-form posts a week to build authority and trust.
  • Focus on your core offer — services and coaching programs sell faster than low-ticket PDFs.
  • Practice your messaging through conversations and content — don’t expect perfection right away.

Remember, success is a marathon, not a sprint. The work you put in today might not pay off tomorrow, but it will pay off — if you keep showing up and focus on doing less, but better.
