How I Gained 8,868 Followers on Threads in 11 Days: A Simple, Effective Growth Strategy

I’m sharing the exact approach I used to grow a brand-new theme page on Threads by nearly 9,000 followers in just 11 days — all without showing my face, revealing my name, or leveraging any existing clout.

This is a passion project completely separate from the “make money online” space, and I’ll walk you through how I built momentum, created content efficiently, and turned Threads into a powerful tool for building my email list and ultimately making sales.

Launching a Secret Theme Page

Back on April 20th, I launched a theme page on Threads. What’s a theme page? To me, it’s a brand page with no personal name attached — just a focused niche and content all centered around one subject. For example, if I wanted to build a page about email marketing, every post would be about email marketing and my one offer would relate only to that topic.

For this project, I purposely kept it completely secret. No face, no name, no promotion through my personal or existing pages. I wanted to prove that growth could happen organically without leveraging any existing audience or clout.

After an initially lazy first month with minimal activity, I stumbled upon an inspiring creator’s page at the end of June. That motivated me to revisit the theme page and start posting consistently again — this time with purpose.

How I Efficiently Create Content Using Blackwist

One of the biggest challenges with consistent posting is content creation. To solve this, I use an app called Blackwist (link in description) to schedule and automate my Threads posts. This tool is a real cheat code — I can create and schedule an entire week’s worth of content in about 30 minutes.

About 90% of my Threads posts come from Blacktwist, which allows me to “hammer out” content quickly and then focus on other parts of my business. This is one of the reasons I love Threads as a platform — it works well with scheduling tools and makes consistent posting manageable.

Finding What Works: Testing Content Frameworks

Starting June 28th, I committed to posting 5 to 8 times daily on the theme page. I tested around 50 different content frameworks — mixing short and long posts, various styles, and different messaging approaches.

After 11 days, I found about 4 or 5 frameworks that consistently performed well. The most powerful one was specifically calling out my target market. When I created posts that spoke directly and clearly to my ideal audience, those posts brought in the most followers.

Threads also shows you which posts are driving follower growth, so I could easily identify and double down on the best performers. I took several top-performing posts — some bringing in over a thousand followers each — and remixed or reposted variations every couple of weeks to maintain momentum.

Doubling Down on What Works

The key lesson here is to test broadly, then quadruple down on your winners. I found two frameworks that worked extremely well and focused most of my energy there. This strategy isn’t unique to Threads — it applies to any social media platform.

For example, I have videos on YouTube that I recreate every two to three weeks because they consistently perform well. One video from February has over 40,000 views, and a re-upload from June has 28,000 views — essentially the same content, repeated because it works.

Using Threads to Build an Email List — The Real Money Maker

While I do pitch occasionally on Threads (about 2 to 4 times per week), my main strategy is to use Threads to build my email list. I promote my newsletter once a day on both the theme page and my personal Threads page.

I sell primarily through email because it’s far more effective and profitable than trying to sell directly on social media. I follow a simple rule: 90% value, 10% pitch. This ratio keeps my audience engaged without overwhelming them with sales messages.

Many people make the mistake of pitching too often on social media, which doesn’t work. Instead, I focus on providing value consistently and only pitching occasionally. This approach works across platforms, whether it’s YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or Threads.

Results So Far: Followers, Subscribers, and Paid Product Launch

Since June 28th, I’ve grown the theme page from 511 followers to over 9,300. Multiple days have seen growth of 1,000+ followers. I launched the newsletter this past Monday and have already gained 37 subscribers.

In just two days, I’m launching a paid product related to this theme page. Importantly, this entire project is outside the make money online or entrepreneur space — it’s purely a passion project.

The paid offer will be promoted mostly through email, reinforcing the power of building and nurturing an email list.

The Oldest, Most Effective Online Business Model: Build Your List, Email Your List, Sell Offers

This model is simple but powerful. Build your email list from any platform you enjoy using, then send emails with stories and offers. You don’t have to be flashy or complicated. It’s been around since the dawn of the internet because it works.

Retailers like Target and Best Buy use email marketing daily because it drives sales. You can do the same, tactfully pitching in your emails without overwhelming your audience.

My emails are mostly stories (90%) with a subtle pitch (5-10%). I get compliments on my emails regularly, even though I pitch in every single one.

It Works in Any Niche, On Any Platform, For Any Product

Whether you’re selling a $10 ebook, a $5,000 coaching program, baseball hats, digital products, or weighted vests — this strategy works. You can build your list organically with social media or use ads to grow your list without social media at all.

The key is to pick a platform you enjoy and become consistent at promoting your newsletter or email list link. Then nurture that list with valuable content and offers.

Keep It Simple, Eliminate Excuses, and Have Fun

At its core, this is my business model in a nutshell:

  • Put out valuable content on social media (YouTube, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, etc.)
  • Link to your newsletter in your bio or video description
  • Build your email list daily with 5 to 20 new subscribers
  • Email your list frequently with stories and subtle offers
  • Make sales primarily through email

It’s not sexy or flashy, but it’s reliable and scalable. You will get unsubscribes, but if you’re consistent, you’ll add more subscribers than you lose each day. It’s a net positive every time.

Final Thoughts

If you’re wondering how to grow a following quickly and monetize effectively, focus on building your email list from any platform you enjoy using. Use tools like Blackwist to streamline content creation and double down on what works. Remember, storytelling + making offers = Put more of the green stuff in your piggybanks.
