I replied to a comment on Threads this morning, to this question: “Is it okay if I don’t want to have an email list or newsletter? Lol like I know it is but I keep seeing very threatening advice about how everyone needs an email list so I’m doubting myself.” Here’s my reply: “If you want to hustle less on social, build an email list (or run ads) If you don’t mind the social media hustle, don’t build a list. It’s your business. Do what feels right for YOU. That includes NOT listening to me, if it doesn’t make sense for YOU.” There’s no one right way to build a business. Email is the most profitable channel out there (there’s dozens of studies proving this) But, here’s what’s more important… Alignment with your personality, strengths, values, bandwidth, lifestyle and goals. If you’re doing something because someone said it’s “best” or “most profitable”, you’re not gonna stick with it. Everything works, IF you work it. But nothing works if you’re following someone else’s rule book that doesn’t fir YOUR life. This includes mine. If I ever suggest something that doesn’t feel right for you, ignore it. Because what works for me as a 43-year-old dad walking 10k steps a day, eating 10 eggs/day, raising two kids, coaching soccer, and selling PDFs from my kitchen table… …might not work for you. And that’s ok. You don’t need another rule. Give yourself permission to do it your way. YOU GOT THIS 🙌 In your corner, |
