Quit hiding behind “humble”

I was on a mastermind call on Tuesday.

In a Zoom with 13 other entrepreneurs.

I was in the “hot seat”.

I asked my mentor a question…

She paused, looked me dead in the eyes, and said….

“Before I answer…you need to quit being so damn humble in your content.”

That hit like an uppercut from Mike Tyson.

She was right.

I’d been hiding behind “humble” for too long.

Disguising fear as humility.

Playing too small.

Why?

Humble feels “safe”.

Here’s the truth bomb on learned on Tuesday;

When you shrink in public, you’re not protecting anyone.

You’re robbing the people who actually need what only you have to offer.

Me being humble = Selfish.

You don’t hire mentors to make you feel good.

You hire them to tell you the fucking truth.

The truth is…

If you’re downplaying your magic for the sake of “being humble”…

You’re doing your community a disservice.
