I took my son to the driving range this afternoon at the golf course in our neighborhood. He’s never swang a golf club (outside of putt putt) We gotta work on his form 😜 Just 2 buckets of balls, a few clubs and vibes. He was swinging as hard as he could. I told him to slow it down. No need to swing at the ball like it owes you money. Plenty of whiffs. Balls dribbling 2-3 feet in front of us. “Dad…I suck at this” he said to me. “I did too when I first started. I actually still do and I’ve swung the club 1000s of times” I replied. Then I shared this reminder that we all too often forget: “You weren’t good the first time you threw the football. Or kicked the soccer ball, but you got better with practice” He got better as time went on. He started loosening up. Stopped caring what he looked like. And BOOM! He hit a shot up in the air that was pretty straight. His face lit up like Christmas tree. “Dad! Did you see that?!?!” He asked. The good shots excited him.
