The elevator test (and why most offers fail)

I had a call with a client this afternoon.

Successful brick & mortar business owner in the UK.

Smart. Driven. Wants to generate some automated income online with digital assets.

“Imagine this” I said.

“You’re in an elevator with your best friend.” Your friend looks at you and says, ‘I’m on the edge of a mental breakdown. The doors open in 10 seconds. Give me 3 – 5 steps I can take RIGHT NOW so I don’t hit rock bottom.’

Ding! Doors open.

What do you say?

Just 3 – 5 practical steps she can take tonight.

That’s a pretty good start to outline your offer.

Most Creators try to build their “forever, solve-all-the-problems-for-all-the-people” offer right out of the gate.

That’s like trying to bench press 315 lbs at the gym with one arm.

You don’t need to solve their entire life.

You want to help them get moving in the right direction.

First base. Momentum. A quick win.

Run the elevator test in your niche.

If your best friend came to you and said:

I’m had it up to here with my weight! I cannot look at the number on the scale anymore. I’m ashamed I’ve let it get this bad. I get winded 7.3 seconds into wresting with them on the living room floor. I don’t even know where to start!

You’ve got 10 – 15 seconds to give them advice.

What are the 3 – 5 steps you’d give them?

That’s your outline, or chapter, if you’re writing an ebook/PDF.

That’s your digital asset. Simple, clear & doable.

Most are overwhelmed, drowning in information….it’s like drinking from a fire hose.

Most crave simplicity. Clarity.

Your offer should NOT solve everything.

It needs to solve something. Fast. Clearly. Get them taking action.

That’s the game.
