a parent cornered me after the game

Saturday was FUGLY.

We lost our flag football game 28-2 (interceptions are worth 1 point each)

It’s been a rough season.

The score was bad, but what happened after the game was pouring salt into the wound.

I got approached by one of the kid’s parents.

They weren’t thrilled about their son’s playing time.

Now here’s the kicker…

We only had SIX kids show up.

5 are on the field at a time, so everyone played a lot.

In fact, their son was standing alone in the endzone when the quarterback heaved him a pass, and he dropped it. It could have been our lone touchdown of the game.

I get where they’re coming from.

When it’s your kid, logic tends to go out the window.

You want to see them on the field playing, contributing, having fun.

I told them I’d get him more playing time next weekend.

I, of course, 32nd guessed myself on the drive home.

“Should I have said this?”
“Should I have done that?”
“Am I screwing this whole thing up?”

Classic Monday Morning Quarterback, on a Saturday afternoon.

This is EXACTLY what people do in business.

They show up, out themselves out there, launch an offer, etc.

And the second they get feedback (which many take as criticism), they spiral. Question everything they’re doing. They start playing not to lose (instead of playing to win).

Next thing you know…they’re sitting on the sidelines of life.

Here’s what’s not talked about enough…

You’re gonna get questioned (many times, from the people closest to you).

You’re gonna get second guessed.

You will be doubted by family, friends and strangers online.

You’ll often times feel like you’re doing things wrong.

It doesn’t matter if your coaching your son’s football team or building your personal brand….

That is all part of the deal.

This is what you signed up for.

You can’t avoid it.

The goal is to keep going, no matter what anyone else says, or does.

Run the next play. Send the email. Make the next offer. Increase your prices to an amount that scares you.

Because winners aren’t perfect, they’re just to stubborn to quit when it gets hard/uncomfortable.

YOU GOT THIS 🙌

In your corner,
Adam
