Dad did NOT have it

I got back from my morning walk and went straight to the garage.

Ashton’s brakes on his bike ain’t doing what they’re supposed to….stop him while riding.

I’ve worked on these brakes a handful of times over the last year.

This morning was attempt 38. Maybe 39. I lost count.

Him and I spent nearly an hour out there tightening, adjusting, cussing (me), YouTubing, repeating.

I did fix the chain, as he was having issues with that. A win is a win.

The brakes? Not today.

I ended up calling the bike shop to get a quote on fixing the brakes the right way.

They quoted me “about $25” on the phone.

At the shop, they had a look, and quoted me $46.

Then hit me with “…but you might need new pads too.”

So likely more than the $46 they quoted me. And definitely more than the $25 on the phone.

A brand new bike is $150, and probably the move I should have made.

There’s a sense of pride when I do fix his bike, though.

Ge gives me that, “Dads got it” look.

The “simple fix” might cost almost as much as just starting fresh.

I see this often with Creators, too.

Months of overthinking, 32nd guessing themselves, constantly “getting ready”, and months of tinkering/tweaking the thing that probably just needs to be replaced with something simpler.

Don’t be me in the garage.

YOU GOT THIS 🙌

In your corner,
Adam
