I was driving down the Las Vegas strip right in front of the Wynn Hotel.
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon with the sun shining.
<THUMP!>
The lady who hit me said she was looking at a Corvette.
No one was injured.
And minor damage to both cars.
“Fuck!”
I said out loud three times while tapping my steering wheel with my fist.
I took a deep breath.
And said out loud;
“It could be worse”
“It could be worse”
“It could be worse”
The stress instantly melted away.
I use those four words when life hands me shit sammiches.
In 2011, someone broke into my house (while I was sleeping) and stole my car, a bunch of DVDs (‘member those things?), videos games, a box of popsicles, and a bottle of wine with 4-5 oz left that was six months old.
It was terrifying.
And I struggled sleeping for months.
I reminded myself that it could have been A LOT worse.
So next time something doesn’t go your way.
Remember those four words.
I bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised how fast your perception shifts.
Learn to control your emotions, or they’ll control you.
