For years, I was a “Offer over everything” kinda guy. I believed the offer was the biggest needle mover when building an organic personal brand. I no longer believe that. I had someone this morning ask on Threads to expand on my new stance: “Messaging over everything”. Your offer comes in 2nd place, but messaging is the biggest needle mover. I’ve watched creators sell out 4-5 figure vague AF offers because their messaging was dialed in. I’ve also seen people with kickass offers struggle to make sales because their messaging was off/didn’t move people. The difference wasn’t the product itself, but the world they built with their words. I refer to this as your YOUniverse. Your beliefs, ideas, lingo, stories, perspectives, and hot take opinions that most are too scared to say out loud. That’s your YOUniverse. When built right, people buy whatever it is you’re selling. I’ve found women tend to be better at messaging, where as men seem to be better at offers. Men build the thing and sell it. Women want you to feel something first, then sell you the offer. Neither is wrong, but if you’re a guy reading this… You likely have spent 80% of your energy on the offer, and 20% on the messaging. Flip that around. Your offer is fine at a 7. But if your messaging is a 8-9, that 7 is gonna sell like it’s a 9-10. The offer still matters, but your YOUniverse should do the selling before you pitch the offer.
