I did 100+ TikTok lives back in 2021-2023. Then I stopped. No big reason…I just stopped doing them. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and I clicked “Go Live” for the first time in a long time. I was shaking like a Polaroid picture. Palms sweaty, knees weak, arms were heavy. I think I had vomit on my sweater already, mom’s spaghetti. (excuse my inner Eminem 😜) My first 6 livestreams? 6.1 hours of content (I track with a spreadsheet cuz I’m a numbers nerd) Zero likes. NOT A SINGLE LIKE! I’m starting from scratch on an old TikTok account with 1,500 followers from 2020. On Wednesday… 11,600 likes on a single live! I got several nice comments, including this one… I’m taking my “Serve First” approach that served me well on Threads. I get a high when I get on livestreams. I truly enjoy them. They GIVE me energy. The gurus will say this is the best platform, or this style/format content works best or whatever… Don’t listen to them. 92.3% of this game is finding the ONE thing that lights you up when you do it. For me right now? It’s livestreams. I’m not sure there is a faster way to build trust in an AI world that livestreams. For you… Maybe it’s blogging. Maybe it’s a solo podcast. Maybe it’s a daily YouTube video (one take & no edits). Maybe it’s answering 100s of questions daily on Threads. Maybe it’s Snapchat. Or LinkedIn. Or Facebook groups. Or Twitter. Doesn’t really what MATTER it is. It matters that YOU enjoy it. Creating content from a place of genuine energy is gonna outperform (and outlast) the latest trick or hack or shiny tactic the greedy gurus is trying to sell you. Find your thing, Reader.
