The 2% rule everyone ignores

I was chatting with a client the other day.

Here’s the takeaway from our conversation:

Your first order of business is to validate an offer.

My definition: Sell something 10-15 times and get 2-5 pieces of social proof.

Once you get there, it’s a million times easier to create content (and make sales).

Then build out the funnel (bump offers and upsells), then the ascension plan (what you’re going to sell them after they buy the initial offer). The REAL money in any business — online or offline — is the backend.

If you want to take it a step further…

Get on the phone with those 10-15 customers and have conversations. Ask questions. LISTEN. Take notes. Make improvements to your product. Create content based off these conversations.

Here’s the thing…

You might validate your 1st offer (doubtful).

It might take you 5 offers to finally validate an offer. That’s fine. Don’t get emotionally attached to an offer. If it’s not working, move on to the next one.

The average conversion rate is 2%.

Focus on getting 1,000 visits to your sales page.

If you make 20+ sales, you’re probably in good shape with an offer the market wants.

If you’re far under 20 sales, it might be time to move on to the next offer.

Take what you learned from this experience, and apply it to your next offer/launch.

If you want to speed up the process…

Budget $150ish per week on ads to get the 1,000 visits much faster.

You’ll know, within a week, if the market wants the offer.

Rinse and repeat this process until you find a validated offer.

I’d be shocked if you don’t find a winning offer by Valentine’s Day.

I see so many Creators pissing away time and energy on things that don’t matter (like creating content), when they should be focused on validating an offer.
