I was reviewing a sales page in our Skool community this morning. Yes, I have revived the Skool community! I took a 3 month hiatus, so if you’re a part of it, it’s now active. A lot more activity to come, too. This guy has legit credentials. MTV. TNT. Comcast. He’s the real MF deal. I read through his sales page, and one line stuck out to me… “The Sync Prep Challenge shows you how to prep your tracks for real placements.” Now, I know absolutely nothing about his industry or his market, but “real placements” doesn’t do it for me. That’s like saying “make m0ney online” or “lose w3ight”. Way too vague/general. Your reader’s brain needs to grab onto something. A picture. A scene. A moment, they can see, feel, hear, taste, touch….SOMETHING! I refer to these as “mind movies”. Instead of “real placements”… Imagine if he wrote… Imagine opening Spotify and hearing YOUR beat playing in the background of a Netflix true crime doc. Or watching TNT and recognizing your track under a game winning highlight reel. You can “see” that, right? You can FEEL that. I want that and I don’t even create music! Here’s the simple rule… If your people can’t see it, they’re gonna struggle wanting it. And if they can’t want it, they ain’t gonna whip out their wallet to buy it (see how I used whip out their wallet?) Vague words don’t attract digital dollars. It usually happens because you’re too close to your own stuff. He knows exactly what “real placements” means. Your reader might not, or likely will interpret it how they want (we do NOT want that). Paint the picture. Create the mind movie. Specificity in your content is the difference between someone scrolling right by your post, and content that gets screenshotted and shared in the group chat. 92.3% of the game is just being more specific than everyone else in your space.
