I coach my son’s soccer team.
We played yesterday against a decent team.
We’re 1-5 on the season.
The 2nd worst team in the league.
My son scored the 1st goal yesterday.
One of their kids accidentally scored on themselves.
We were up 2-0 at half.
The kids were too confident.
We took our foot off the gas in the 2nd half.
The kids weren’t running as hard.
We had no substitutes, so they were tired.
All of a sudden, it was 2-1.
Then it was 2-2 with 1 minute to go.
The other team scored 2 goals in the last 3ish minutes of the game.
It ended up being a 2-2 tie.
It reminds me of what I see the last 6ish weeks of the year.
People get comfortable. They relax, or coast. They tell themselves, “We’ll hit it hard in the new year”
