We cut cost per sale by $9.23

I’m running ads for a client right now. We were paying $25.07 per sale on a $27 product. A slight profit. The goal with advertising isn’t to get rich with the offer you’re advertising. It’s to build a list of customers at break even-ish, then sell them more stuff on the backend. Studies show it’s 5x-12x easier to sell to a current customer over a new prospect. We’re essentially getting paid (just a bit) to build a list of buyers. I launched a new ad set last week. Same ads, just different…

I think AI is making me worse

This might sound weird, but… I was chatting with my friend Audrey (fellow entrepreneur) about this topic a few weeks ago. I sent her a voice note (we share daily voice notes) that said… I feel like AI has been a net negative for me AI has been wonderful. It’s transforming our everyday lives at a rapid rate. My concern? It’s how I use it. I spend far too much time “tinkering” in Lovable. I bet I have 15 Lovable projects that I’ve created this year. I bet I’ve shared 2 or 3 with the public….

I went weigh overboard today

I been on a bit of a diet lately. Eating under my calories, 150 grams of protein daily, and try to get 30 grams of fiber each day. I weight everything I eat, track calories, and been swimming laps in the pool. Weeks ago, I told myself once I get in the 150s, I deserve a cheat meal. I stepped on the scale this morning: 159.8 lbs. We already had plans to meet my parents for Father’s Day lunch. At a place that specializes in Detroit pizza. I told myself 2-3 pieces. I lost count somewhere around…

“You and your damn streaks”

My buddy Kerry (fellow entrepreneur and reader of this daily newsletter) stopped by the house last Friday night. He went through a divorce a couple of years ago, so we get together on occasion (not enough, Kerry!) and shoot the shit. Last Friday night was no different. We sat on the couch for 4 hours yapping about business, dating, losing my social accounts, and running ads. Somewhere in the convo, I mentioned my new swimming streak. He stopped mid sentence and said it. “You and your damn…

The weight doesn’t matter

Yesterday I told you about how my son and his buddy have been hitting the gym and pool with me this summer. My son is 10. His buddy is 13. They’re both new to the gym. And they both have the same goal: Lift the heaviest weight they can. Meanwhile, I’m the old man who sounds like broken record… “Slow down” “It’s not a race” “Focus on your form, not the heaviest weight”. They don’t want to listen to me. They want to get STRONG. Here’s the thing… It doesn’t matter how much weight they try to…

I almost died in the pool

I started swimming 3 weeks ago in the pool in our neighborhood. I set out to swim 20 minutes that first day. HAHAHAHAHAHAAH Was I overconfident! The lifeguard nearly had to jump in the pool to rescue me. That is a WORKOUT! WOW!! The lap pool is 25 yards in length. I swim there and back, which takes about 1 minute. I rest for a minute. Ashton’s been coming with me every day this week. He brings his buddy Caleb, too. Two kids racing each other up and down the lanes while I’m just trying not to…
